WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Mission is turning spiritual seekers into fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Crossroads exists to be a community of Christ-Centered, Spirit-Transformed, People-Loving, World Changers.

Core Values

Biblical Authority and Teaching

The Bible is God’s authoritative Word in all matters regarding faith and practice.

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17)

20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21)

Prayer

We are a church that seeks God’s direction by being passionate and diligent in prayer before our Heavenly Father.

2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. (Colossians 4:2-3)

Evangelism

We are a church that is intentional about sharing the Gospel with people who have yet to meet Jesus personally. We are an unapologetically outreach-focused church that maintains the balance called for in the Great Commission by also being intentional about helping believers mature in their spiritual walks.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10)

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… (Matthew 28:19a)

Creative, Passionate, God-Centered Worship Arts

We believe God is seeking worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). Our worship service is designed to honor God first and foremost and yet we are not afraid to utilize various creative aspects within our worship arts that assist us in effectively communicating the Gospel message to seekers.

1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. 4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. (Psalm 96:1-4)

Empowering People to Serve

We believe that a key component to spiritual growth involves using one’s spiritual gift(s) to serve others for the purpose of reaching people for Christ. Since this is critical to the discipleship process, and something Jesus modeled and commands, we equip and encourage people to embrace the privilege of serving others. (Matthew 20:26b-28)

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. (Romans 12: 4-6)

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)

Leadership Development

We invest in, equip, develop, and empower leaders for the Kingdom with the desire to see them released and sent out to lead and develop others.

If a person’s gift……is leadership, let them govern diligently. (Romans 12: 6 & 8)

2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. (2 Timothy 2:2)

Strong Next Generation Ministries

It’s our desire to come alongside of parents to aid them in the spiritual upbringing of their children. Children and youth are a key part of the church today, and represent the future of the church. Therefore, we invest heavily in having a strong, dynamic children’s and youth ministry, led by passionate leaders, in order to point the next generation to a life rooted in Christ.

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Luke 18:16-17)

6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

LifeGroup Model of Ministry

We believe life change happens in the context of relationships. Jesus modelled it with his 12 disciples and the early church built on his example. So we strive to be a church OF reproducing LifeGroups, not a church WITH LifeGroups. We practice a continuous multiplication of LifeGroups that meet the real needs of people and where the loving and healing power of fellowship is experienced.

46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47)

Generosity

We believe we are blessed to be a blessing to others. We strive to practice generosity as individuals and as the church. And we seek to continue to grow in becoming more and more generous as we give of our time, treasure and talents to advance God’s Kingdom and bless others.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. (2 Corinthians 9:6)

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. (1 Timothy 6:18)

Ongoing Church Planting

Crossroads Community Church plays a significant role in the planting of additional churches throughout the lakeshore region for the purposes of reaching more people for Christ.

“The single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches.” - C. Peter Wagner - Church Planting For A Greater Harvest

21 They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. 23 Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. (Acts 14:21-23)

What We Believe

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22 Psalm 90:2 Matthew 28:19 I Peter 1:2 II Corinthians 13:14

Man

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God's creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin." This attitude separates man from God. Genesis 1:27 Psalm 8:3-6 Isaiah 53:6a Romans 3:23 Isaiah 59:1-2

Eternity

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God, through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. John 3:16 I John 2:25; 5:11-13 Romans 6:23 Revelation 20:15

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Matthew 1:22-23 Isaiah 9:6 John 1:1-5; 14:10-30 Hebrews 4:14-15 I Corinthians 15:3-4 Romans 1:3-4 Acts 1:9-11 I Timothy 6:14-15 Titus 2:13

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. Romans 6:23 Ephesians 2:8-9 John 14:6; 1:12 Titus 3:5 Galatians 3:26 Romans 5:1

Eternal Security

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security. John 10:29 II Timothy 1:12 Hebrews 7:25; 10:10-14 I Peter 1:3-5

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily. II Corinthians 3:17 John 16:7-13; 14:16-17 Acts 1:8 I Corinthians 2:12; 3:16 Ephesians 1:13 Galatians 5:25 Ephesians 5:18

The Bible

The Bible is God's Word to all men. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. II Timothy 3:16 II Peter 1:20-21 II Timothy 1:13 Psalm 119:105,160; 12:6 Proverbs 30:5
